Compello realises hybrid cloud at EMM International
EMM International recently moved to a new location due to the growth of the organisation. In the context of this move, a new IT environment has been set up that is also prepared for further growth. Compello has carried out the entire process from the design to the realisation of the new hybrid cloud environment for EMM International.
Compello has used the hybrid cloud model as its starting point for the design. A hybrid cloud uses a private cloud in combination with a public cloud. Some of the (standardized) services are placed within a public cloud and the remainder of the services within the company’s own private cloud. In the case of EMM, a private cloud has been created within the company’s own IT environment with Microsoft Windows Server 2016. As mail functionality the standardized service Exchange Online from Microsoft’s public cloud is used. Cloud-based authentication via Azure Active Directory has also been set up. Depending on the time, the capacity required or the applications used, more services from the public cloud will be used in the future.
The new IT infrastructure has been standardised in accordance with market standards. The basic principle here is that software is used that supports the required functionalities.
Within the private cloud, the IT infrastructure is set up on the basis of Dell PowerEdge servers in combination with a Dell Compellent storage solution. VMware has been used as the virtualisation solution and also a disaster recovery environment has been set up. By means of this IT architecture, a scalable, redundant and high availability IT infrastructure has been realised. The (core) network environment is set up with Dell PowerConnect switches. The firewall environment has been replaced by a Fortinet Fortigate solution. The wireless network for the new site is build with Fortinet Access Points that seamlessly integrate with the Fortinet Firewall environment to create both central configuration and centralized management.
